On August 25, 2023, a meeting was held in the office of NS IPA Serbia between Prof. Dr. Nebojša Pantelić, President of NS, and Luka Barloa, President of the World Indoor Police Association (WISPA), who is also a high-ranking officer in the Belgian police (First Superintendent). The meeting was attended by Željana Tomašević, President of the NS Ladies Club, and Dejan Marinković, Secretary-General of IPA Region Belgrade and a member of WISPA. Additionally, due to the significance of the topic, Uroš Pribićević, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ivan Grgić from the Tourist Organization of Belgrade also participated.
The meeting’s topic was the presentation of WISPA, a police organization that brings together 65 countries and has been in existence for 50 years. It also involved extending an invitation to the Republic of Serbia to bid as the host country for the 2024 sports competitions, in which 65 WISPA member states would participate. Organizing this event holds sporting, humanitarian, cultural, and economic significance for the host country, particularly contributing to the international promotion of the police force. The proposal was approved by all present, but due to the scale and importance of the event, it needs to be elevated to the highest levels of key ministries for its realization. They agreed on a joint effort in activities related to submitting the candidacy.
